Job Description

Route delivery drive 40 hours plus overtime. Cleans, disinfects, and functionally checks medical equipment, delivers and instructs on medical equipment and supplies to home care customers in their place of residence, and provides highly responsible patient care services.

Job Duties

  • Strict adherence to the company policy and procedure manual including state and federal laws.
  • Safely drives and maintains company vehicles.
  • Daily vehicle inspections.
  • ALWAYS wear seatbelts.
  • Securely loads and stages delivery vehicles in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Functionally checks and selects ordered medical equipment and supplies.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls in an efficient manner.
  • Educates home care customers and other end users on medical equipment and supply use by covering key operating features and performing demonstrations.
  • Interacts with patients and customers that may be of various ages.
  • Performs assessments and reassessments of each customer’s care or service needs.
  • Documents the customer’s response to care or services provided, the actions and interventions taken, and the outcomes of the care or services provided.
  • Completes plans of care as appropriate to the level of care provided.
  • Collects accurate patient information to support care, service and treatment operations, which includes demographic, billing, and medical information.
  • Refers service complaints and compliments to appropriate personnel.
  • Secondary on-call duties.
  • Participates in Improvement of Operational Performance (IOP) activities.
  • Participates in traditional and e-learning programs.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Works effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments.
  • Performs all job functions with Company Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements in mind.

Education, Certificate, and Licensure
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months industry related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. No professional certificate or licensure required, although preferred.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate practical knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes applicable to the industry.
  • Must pass basic mathematics and map test.
  • Must have good personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Applicant must have a clean state criminal background and federal sex offender check, clean drug test, valid driver’s license and pass a driving skill test.
  • Additionally, the applicant is expected to demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements) and department policies and procedures.
  • Applicant will be required to have, at time of hire and annually, tuberculosis testing and influenza vaccine. At hire, Hepatitis B screening, vaccination, or declination will be required. Other vaccinations and or testing will be added at the company’s discretion.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed, and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision.

Math Ability
Must demonstrate proficient ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Supervisory Requirements
This job has no supervisory requirements or authority.

Language and Communication Ability
Must demonstrate proficient ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations and effectively present and debate any assortment of information relevant to their area of expertise and designated responsibilities and duties with members of the company and on behalf of the company when appropriate. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must possess good command of the English language and neat handwriting.

Physical Demands
Must demonstrate the ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, which may include but is not limited to: computers and various mechanical equipment and/or devices. Requires the ability to safely operate a company vehicle; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing up to 200 pounds; vision to read printed materials, computer screens and road signs; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone; manual dexterity to perform job functions; and stamina to frequently sit for extended periods of time, as well as climb multiple flights of stairs.

Reasoning Ability
Must demonstrate proficient ability to understand, interpret, and apply an extensive array of complex mathematical instruction and information through analytical collection of factual data to produce logical solutions and/or conclusions where only limited standardization exists.

Technology Skills
Must demonstrate proficient ability and practical knowledge of personal computer use, word processing software, spreadsheet software, and inventory software. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to quickly and proficiently learn to use company specific software programs and any other handheld or technology tools as required for completing job tasks.

Must demonstrate proficiency and productivity in a fast-paced environment with unscheduled interruptions while maintaining acceptable judgment, responsibility, and assumption for decisions, consequences, and results. Applicant must demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills. Occasionally an adjusted work schedule is required to accommodate company needs.

This job description has been identified as having potential risk of occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood, or other potentially infectious materials. During the performance of some job duties it may be required that the following personal protective equipment (PPE) be worn:

During the initial 90 day training/orientation period, the employee will gain knowledge via training by qualified company staff members, continuing education/in-service, off site training and/or independent study of the policies and procedures manual. Employee competence in company policies and procedures will be certified, in writing, by a supervisor or other qualified/designated individual. Evidence of certification will be maintained in the individual personnel file or the company’s continuing education file.
